Five Turkish soldiers were killed and seven wounded Monday in an attack by a Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) militant on a military post in the eastern Turkish province of Tunceli, the Anadolu news agency reported. According to first reports the PKK militant was driving a minibus from which he threw hand grenades into the military post in the village of Kocatepe, dpa reported. The attacker then fired a long-range rifle at the post before he was killed by gendarmes, military police responsible for security in rural areas. It was not clear whether other rebels were also involved in the attack.
