President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has described his visit to Oman and his subsequent meeting with Sultan Qaboos as a significant impetus to UAE-Omani relations, the UAE news agency "WAM" reported. In a statement on arrival, Sheikh Khalifa who began a three-day state visit to Oman yesterday also expressed his keenness to confer with Sultan Qaboos on ways to forge a strategic partnership between the two countries. "We look forward to a strategic partnership that is consistent with the long-standing and historical relations between the two countries", he said. Sheikh Khalifa underlined the need to develop the deep-rooted historical and brotherly ties between the UAE and Oman in a manner that would sustained the progress and prosperity of the two countries.
