YEMEN HAS EXPRESSED ITS HEARTFELT CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MEMBER COUNTRIES OF THE ARAB GULF COOPERATION COUNCIL (GCC) ON THE OCCASION OF THE 26TH ANNIVERSARY FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE GCC. YEMENI FOREIGN MINISTER DR ABUL-BAKR AL-KURBI HIGHLIGHTED THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE GCC, AND SAID IT WAS THE ONLY REGIONAL ORGANIZATION WHICH WAS CAPABLE OF RESISTING ALL CHALLENGES AND DANGERS WITNESSED BY THE REGION. IN A STATEMENT TO SANAA-BASED AL-THAWRA NEWSPAPER TODAY, DR AL-KURBI SAID THE GCC CONSTITUTES A DISTINGUISHED EXPERIENCE THROUGH WHICH ITS MEMBER STATES WERE CAPABLE OF ATTAINING ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE FIELD OF DEVELOPMENT AND MODERNIZATION IN THE ECONOMIC, POLITICAL, SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL DOMAINS AS WELL AS IN THE SECURITY DOMAIN. "THESE ACHIEVEMENTS HAVE HAD A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE GCC NATIONS," HE SAID. HE LAUDED THE FOSTERING YEMENI-GCC RELATIONS.
