EGYPTIAN FOREIGN MINISTER AHMAD ABUL GHAIT HAS CRITICIZED IMPOSITION OF SANCTIONS ON SUDAN, AND SAID SUCH A DEVELOPMENT WOULD FURTHER COMPLICATE THE SITUATION. IN A STATEMENT TO THE PRESS MEN HERE TODAY, ABUL GHAIT SAID UN'S SECRETARY GENERAL BAN KI-MOON IS AWARE OF THE EGYPTIAN VIEW IN THIS RESPECT. EXPERIENCES HAVE PROVED THAT SANCTIONS DON'T REALIZE A POLITICAL GOAL', HE SAID. MEANWHILE, ABUL GHAIT SAID HE HAD EXCHANGED VIEWS WITH THE ETHIOPIAN PREMIER DURING HIS VISIT TO NAIROBI ISSUES PERTAINING TO THE SITUATION IN SOMALIA.
