Brazil's energy minister Silas Rondeau has resigned amid corruption charges, Brazilian media reported Wednesday, according to DPA. Rondeau, who is under suspicion of taking kickbacks, tendered his resignation late Tuesday. The resignation was accepted by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Media reports said Rondeau is being investigated by police for allegedly receiving a bribe of 100,000 real (51,470 dollars) from a company that won a government electricity contract. Rondeau denies any involvement in the corruption, saying he resigned only to be able to better defend himself and to prevent negative consequences for the central government.
