Four gunmen seized a Lebanese construction worker Tuesday in Nigeria's volatile oil-rich south, a top military official said. Brig. Gen. Lawrence Ngubane said the gunmen snatched the worker from a construction compound in the city of Warri about an hour after sunrise, leaving behind their car and one weapon before fleeing in their abductee's vehicle. Around 100 foreign workers and a handful of Nigerians have been kidnapped in the volatile Niger Delta region this year. The victims include two women, one of whom was shot in the knee, and a toddler, the Associated Press reported. Hostages are usually released unharmed after their captors' demands have been met.
