Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud contributed $411,000 to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which works with Palestinian refugees. "We are very grateful for this contribution from Prince Alwaleed. It will enable us to provide much needed training to medical staff in Gaza," said UNRWA Commissioner-General Karen Koning AbuZayd. Alwaleed's contribution through his Kingdom Foundation will allow 30 doctors and nurses working in Gaza to pursue post-graduate studies in public health at Gaza s Al-Quds University. The money will pay for their tuition and cover the costs to employ temporary replacements. The demands upon UNRWA medical services have grown considerably over the past year, as the economic impact of international sanctions has worsened, said AbuZayd. We are in dire need of more generous donations like that of Prince Alwaleed.
