ARAB INTERIOR MINISTERS OF THE GULF COOPERATION COUNCIL MEMBER COUNTRIES STARTED THEIR 8TH CONSULTATIVE MEETING IN RIYADH TONIGHT UNDER THE CHAIRMANSHIP OF PRINCE NAIF BIN ABDULAZIZ, MINISTER OF INTERIOR. PRINCE AHMED BIN ABDULAZIZ, DEPUTY MINISTER OF INTERIOR, LED SAUDI ARABIA'S DELEGATION TO THE MEETING. ADDRESSING THE OPENING CEREMONY, PRINCE NAIF WELCOMED HIS GCC COUNTERPARTS IN THEIR SECOND COUNTRY: THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA, WISHING THEM GOOD STAY. HE CONVEYED TO THEM THE GREETINGS OF THE CUSTODIAN OF THE TWO HOLY MOSQUES KING ABDULLAH BIN ABDULAZIZ AND CROWN PRINCE SULTAN BIN ABDULAZIZ, DEPUTY PREMIER, MINISTER OF DEFENSE AND AVIATION AND INSPECTOR GENERAL, WISHING THEIR MEETING EVERY SUCCESS. PRINCE NAIF SAID THE MEETING IS BEING HELD AMID TENSE CIRCUMSTANCES IN THE REGION, PARTICULARLY THE SECURITY SITUATION IN NEIGHBORING IRAQ. HE SAID SECURITY SITUATIONS IN IRAQ IS DETERIORATING AND TERRORISM PHENOMENON IS INCREASINGLY SPREADING TO THE EXTENT THAT IRAQ MIGHT HAVE BECOME A FERTILE ENVIRONMENT FOR NEW GENERATIONS OF TERRORISTS. HE SAID SECTARIAN FIGHTING AUGERS ILL IN IRAQ. THE SAUDI INTERIOR MINISTER CAST LIGHT ON THE GREAT DANGERS OF SECURITY INSTABILITY IN IRAQ ON THE GULF REGION, CITING THE INFILTRATION AND TRAFFICKING OPERATIONS ACROSS THE BORDERS, PROSPECTS OF DISPLACEMENT INTO IRAQ'S NEIGHBORS, IN ADDITION TO THE TENSE SITUATION BETWEEN IRAN AND THE UNITED NATIONS OVER IRAN'S NUCLEAR FILE. --MORE
