MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL OF THE SAUDI CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY HELD HERE TODAY A MEETING WITH THE UKRAINE DELEGATION WHICH COMPRISES REPRESENTATIVES OF TRADE CENTERS IN UKRAINE. THE MEETING WAS ATTENDED BY THE HEAD OF THE TRADE AND ECONOMIC MISSION AT THE UKRAINE EMBASSY HERE AND A NUMBER OF SAUDI BUSINESSMEN. SPEAKING ON THE OCCASION, DR FAHD BIN SALIH AL-SULTAN, THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE COUNCIL OF THE SAUDI CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, SAID THE MEETING CONSTITUTES A RING IN THE CHAIN OF JOINT WORK FOR PROMOTION OF TRADE EXCHANGE BETWEEN THE KINGDOM AND UKRAINE. AL-SULTAN HIGHLIGHTED THE STRENGTH OF THE SAUDI ECONOMY AND THE VARIETY OF IT PRODUCTS. HE POINTED OUT THAT THE STATISTICS OF 2005 INDICATED THAT THE TRADE BALANCE TILTS IN FAVOR OF UKRAINE. THE UKRAINE EXPORTS TO THE KINGDOM AMOUNTED TO $483 MILLION, WHILE THE SAUDI EXPORTS TO UKRAINE AMOUNTED TO $9 MILLION. AS REGARDS JOINT INVESTMENTS, HE SAID THESE AMOUNTED UP TO APRIL 2007 TO ABOUT $670,000. MEANWHILE, THE UKRAINE DELEGATION PRESENTED A PROPOSAL FOR CONVENING A GULF-EAST EUROPEAN FORUM TO BE ORGANIZED BY UKRAINE IN A GCC MEMBER STATE IN COOPERATION WITH S.F.C. INVESTMENT COMPANY IN 2008, IN ADDITION TO THE AVAILABLE INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE COUNTRY. IT IS WORTH MENTIONING THAT UKRAINE EXPORTS SEVERAL STRATEGIC COMMODITIES TO SEVERAL COUNTRIES INCLUDING THE US, BRAZIL AND CHIE.
