Two people were killed in South Africa and two seriously injured after being flung from a moving train outside Johannesburg, according to an emergency services spokesperson today. The four were found yesterday evening around the bridge and platform of a station on the East Rand in Gauteng province, ER24 emergency services said. According to the dpa, two of the four were already dead when found. Two others were taken to hospital where they were being treatment for serious head and chest injuries and fractured bones. Although the report said the four had been thrown from a moving train it was not possible to immediately verify the circumstances leading to their deaths. In May 2006, during a strike by security guards, several people were killed, some after being thrown to their death, in a spate of attacks on trains. At the time police attributed the deaths to revenge attacks on security guards who refused to heed the strike call. -- SPA
