A four-member Maldivian delegation will be visiting Pakistan on May 3-5 to attend the first meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic and Technical Cooperation between Pakistan and Maldives, an official statement said. Maldivian Foreign Minister Dr Ahmed Shaheed will lead the delegation. Miss Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister of State for Economic Affairs Division, will lead the Pakistani side during the meeting. The statement said Pakistan and Maldives enjoy warm and cordial relations, marked by shared perspectives on major regional as well as international issues. The two countries are bound in a fraternal relationship characterised by historical ties, religious affinity and shared cultural heritage. The Maldivian foreign minister will exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern with his Pakistani counterpart during the visit. He is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
