Pakistan's exports recorded

Pakistan s exports recorded an increase of 3.50 percent to $ 12.435 billion during July 2006-March 2007 compared to $12.013 billion during the corresponding period of last year, the Federal Bureau of Statistics said in a statement.
Exports increased by 18.23% in March 2007 to $ 1.533 billion when compared with $ 1.296 billion in February 2007 and by 1.34 % as compared to $ 1.513 billion in March 2006.
In rupee term, exports during July-March 2006-2007 totalled Rs 753.784 billion as against Rs 718.253 billion during the corresponding period of last year showing an increase of 4.95%.
During March 2007, exports amounted to Rs 93.049 billion as against Rs 78.704 billion in February 2007 and Rs 90.784 billion during march 2006 showing an increase of 18.23% over February 2007 and of 2.49% over March 2006.
Main commodities of exports during March 2007 were cotton cloth (Rs.11,104 million), bed wear (Rs.10,728 million), knitwear (Rs.9,417 million), cotton yarn (Rs.8,000 million), readymade garments (Rs.7,764 million), rice basmati (Rs.3,722 million), silk and synthetic textile (Rs.3,500 million), towels (Rs.3,274 million), Madeup articles (Rs.2,716 million) and others (Rs.2,622 million).
Imports into Pakistan totalled $22.419 billion during July-Mach 2006-2007 as against $ 20.687 billion during the corresponding period of last year showing an increase of 8.37%.
In March 2007, imports increased by 1.96 % to $ 2.622 billion as compared to February 2007 $ 2.572 billion but decreased by 2.21% as compared to march, 2006 $ 2.681 billion.
Imports during July-March 2006-2007 totalled Rs 1.359 trillion as against Rs 1.236 trillion during the corresponding period of last year showing an increase of 9.89%.
During March 2007, imports amounted to Rs 159.175 billion as against Rs 156.220 billion in February 2007 and Rs 160.933 billion during March 2006 showing an increase of 1.89% over February, 2007 but a decrease of 1.09% over March, 2006.
Main commodities of imports during March, 2007 were Petroleum products (Rs.18,605 million), Petroleum Crude (Rs.13,914 million), Aircrafts, ships and boats (Rs.10,064 million), Other Apparatus (Telecom,) (Rs.7,474 million), iron and Steel (Rs7,213 million), Mobile phone (Rs.5,879 million), Plastic materials (Rs.5,261 million), Palm oil (Rs.4,904 million), Raw cotton (Rs.4,142 million and Electrical machinery and apparatus (Rs.3,366 million).
