Malaysia will make an early decision whether to nominate a candidate for the post of the Commonwealth secretary-general which falls vacant at year-end, according to Malaysian prime minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. "We will look around not too long from now, if there is someone, we will nominate, if there is none, then no," the prime minister said here today on the prospect of Malaysia nominating a candidate for the post. According to Malaysian news agency "Bernama," Badawi was speaking to Malaysian journalists covering his three-day visit to Namibia, the last leg of his eight-day three-nation tour of Africa. Earlier, he visited Sudan and Kenya. Badawi said the government had earlier wanted to nominate someone for the post but the candidate was not keen despite having the credentials to be the Commonwealth secretary-general. -- SPA
