A Turkish coast guard patrol boat on Friday picked up 22 Somali refugees attempting to cross to the Greek island of Samos, the Anadolu news agency reported. The refugees were crammed into a small zodiac-style boat when they were detained attempting to get from Kusadasi to the island of Samos, dpa reported. All 22 refugees are expected to be sent back to Somalia as Turkey does not accept non-European refugees. Despite Turkish security forces each year catching thousands of refugees trying to make their way to European Union countries, thousands more are believed to succeed.
