Three U.S. soldiers were killed in separate attacks around Baghdad, the military said Thursday. Two American soldiers died Wednesday when their vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb north of the capital, The Associated Press quoted the military as saying in a statement. The unit was returning from a combat patrol in the area, and had recently captured five suspected insurgents, it said. Another soldier was also wounded in the attack. A third soldier died the same day in a small arms fire attack on a combat security patrol in southwestern Baghdad, a second statement said. The soldier's unit continues to conduct clearing operations, finding «numerous weapons caches,» bomb-making materials and other weapons, the military said. The victims' names were withheld pending family notification.
