Pakistan and Mexico have vowed to continue joint efforts for strengthening bilateral relations and broadening and deepening cooperation in diverse areas, said an official statement. This commitment was reaffirmed when Mrs. Maria De Lourdes Aranda Bezaury, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mexico, called on Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri in Islamabad. Mrs Aranda Bezaury is presently on a three-day official visit to Pakistan to attend the Second Meeting of Pakistan-Mexico Consultations Mechanism on Matters of Common Interest. The Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction that relations between Pakistan and Mexico were growing steadily. He noted that following the landmark visit of President General Pervez Musharraf to Mexico in December 2004, the two countries had operationalized the institutional mechanisms and worked to develop cooperation in diverse fields. Kasuri said that the Vice Foreign Minister's visit had contributed to strengthening bilateral cooperation and forging deeper mutual understanding on issues of common interest. Mrs Aranda Bezaury said that Mexico attached importance to deepening its bilateral ties with Pakistan in view of its international and regional significance as well as trade and economic potential.
