Greece tried to contain an oil spill from polluting the turquoise blue waters around Santorini Tuesday and continued to search for two French passengers who went missing last week after a cruise ship sank near the Aegean island. A Greek prosecutor charged the captain of the cruise ship Sea Diamond and five other crew members after the vessel hit a coral reef just metres from shore, dpa reorted. The cruise ship, operated by Louis Cruise Lines, ran aground last Thursday near the popular holiday island. More than 1,156 passengers and 391 crew were evacuated safely after the ships had begun to list and eventually sank 15 hours later. Hours after the government declared that the rescue operation was a success, it was discovered that a 45-year-old French man and his 16-year-old daughter were missing. Greek officials hope that a specialised vessel which arrived Tuesday to assist investigators would be able to locate the bodies and gather information about its sinking. --More
