Pakistan said Tuesday it had busted a counterfeiting gang involved in making near-perfect U.S. dollars and British pounds. Ten men were arrested _ including retired government, bank and military officials _ and another five were being sought after the bust, The Associated Press quoted Fahim Noor, an investigator at Pakistan's National Accountability Bureau, as saying. The men had faked U.S., British, Pakistani and Indian bank notes for years at secret facilities in the eastern city of Lahore, in North West Frontier Province and in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, Noor said at a news conference. He said the counterfeit dollars were «superb» and held up a fake US$100 bill to show the gang's skill. The counterfeit currency was allegedly smuggled to the Middle East through money changers. Noor said the arrested men also printed fake college and university degrees.
