Six German fighter jets set off Monday for Afghanistan, where they will fly reconnaissance missions for NATO forces, officials said. Defense Minister Franz Josef Jung dispatched the squadron of Tornados, equipped with special camera systems, from their base at Jagel, in northern Germany, The Associated Press reported. They are expected to arrive by the end of the week in Afghanistan, where they will be based in the northern town of Mazar-e-Sharif.
