European Union foreign ministers on Saturday expressed support for the Arab peace initiative the Riyadh summit has decided to reactivate. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the 27-nation EU, said the foreign ministers pledged increased efforts to boost peace in the Middle East, saying they saw new opportunities for ending years of conflict in the region. "We are beginning to have signs of hope," EU foreign and security policy chief Javier Solana told reporters after a meeting of the bloc's foreign ministers in Bremen. While peace was not expected "tomorrow," Solana said there was a new "dynamic" in the region which could revive stalled Middle East peace efforts. "It is important that the EU contributes to move the peace process forward," he said. --More
