German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has stressed the importance of the efforts being exerted by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, with the aim of achieving stability and just and comprehensive peace in the Mideast. Steinmeier said the Kingdom is playing a major role in supporting stability in the region in view of the positive efforts it is exerting and its keenness for maintaining security and finding solutions for crises. He pointed out that Germany and the European Union (EU) are following with interest the dynamic Saudi diplomacy. He said the initiatives of Germany and the EU are existent within the sphere of the international Quartet and the road map resolutions besides the German initiative bearing the motto “Palestine's Future.” Steinmeier demanded that Israel should make a total halt to building of settlements. He said this demand comes within the articles of the Road Map that Israel has signed. He said his Mideast tour basically aims at discussing the steps that would give a push to the peace process for the different parties to return to the negotiations table. Steinmeier is scheduled to start his Mideast tour on Sunday. His first stop will be Israel where he will hold talks with President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In Ramallah, Steinmeier will meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and inaugurate the expansion building for Abu Kash School, which was constructed through the German “Palestine's Future” Initiative.
