A woman was shot dead Saturday morning at Stuttgart airport and a suspect was detained, police said. A police spokeswoman said the man tried to prevent the woman from boarding an outbound plane, dpa reported. Police said no further persons were injured in the attack, the background to which apparently was purely of a personal nature between the man and the woman. The shooting occurred at the check-in counter at the airport's terminal three shortly after 6 a.m. (0400 GMT). The woman was given immediate medical help but she died on the scene. Further details about the victim's identity and age were not immediately known. Police planned a press conference for later Saturday. The airport's operations were not disrupted and there were no delays in the flight schedules, airport spokesman Volkmar Kraemer said.
