Arab League Secretary General Amr Mousa affirmed today the Saudi commitment to carry out its responsibilities towards Arab Issues and its constant efforts to unify the Arab nation. He pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia always assume its responsibilities whether it presides a summit or attend as a member. Amr Mousa expressed optimism over good results of the Arab Summit deliberations, noting the general atmosphere is helping in bridging the divides. Commenting on Shimon Peres's rejection of the current version of the Arab Initiative, Mousa said "Let him say what he wants to say. We are not convinced with Israeli stand. We are not going to deal with him unless they have a movement and a change in their politics towards peace. Moreover, We are totally rejecting any amendment." On his side meeting with Sudanese President Omer Hasan Al-Basheer, Mousa said "We have reached agreement on certain points and there is progress in following others. He pointed out that the Sudanese President agreed on submitted proposals among which is the Multi-National forces. He also informed the press about the Somalia situation stating this specific issue received the concern of Arab Leaders who agreed on a number of points which will lead to stability in Somalia. On his part, Walid Mualem, the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs described the Summit as "Excellent and successful."
