United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Saturday said he had no plans to meet with Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas organisation, according to Deutsche Presse Agentur dpa. "At this time I will say that my itinerary schedule does not include my meeting with Prime Minister Haniyeh," he told a press conference in Cairo. Ban, however, said he would be meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and individual members of the Palestinian government who are not Hamas members. He was on his first trip to the Middle East. Ban arrived in Egypt on Friday and held talks with Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit. Ban also met with President Hosny Mubarak on Saturday. During the meeting the two discussed the situations in Iraq and Lebanon, new developments in Sudan and the crisis in its Darfur region and the role of the UN in these issues.
