A joint military and police security task-force Monday in Port Harcourt in the Niger Delta, foiled an attempt by a militant group to abduct three Croats and a Filipino, according to dpa. An official of the State Security Service, a state-run elite secret service, said the expatriates were employees of Pivot Engineering Company, a construction company, working in the Niger Delta. He said the combined team of security agents foiled the abduction attempt during an operation, code named "Guarded Operation for Rescue Mission" at Obakiri in the Emoha council area of Rivers State. He gave the names of the three Croats as Net Luga, Renato German and Fmolo Bit, but did not name the Filipino. The official said the four expatriate workers had been handed over to the State Security Service. An army spokesman for troops deployed in the Niger Delta to boost security, Major Sagir Musa, confirmed the incident.
