European governments must overcome differences on energy issues to win partners worldwide for the fight against global warming, German Chancellor Angela Merkel demanded Wednesday, according to dpa. "It is a global struggle and we all need to contribute, but I think the more we are able to set a good example, the more we can convince and commit others," Merkel told reporters on the eve of an EU summit on March 8-9. "Europa cannot enter this battle alone," Merkel said after a meeting with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso. The German chancellor, who will host the two-day meeting as current president of the 27-member European Union, has put the fight against global warming at the top of the summit agenda. Merkel said that EU leaders must agree on forging ahead on an improved and more integrated common energy market.
