A 10-year-old girl was killed and three other people trapped in an avalanche in the southern Russian ski resort of Krasjana Poljana near the Black Sea town of Sotschi, according to Deutsche Presse Agentur dpa. Rescue teams searched unsuccessfully for the missing people, buried in the snow, late on Sunday. The 10-year-old girl died shortly after she was pulled from the snow, according to the Interfax agency. The resort, around 25 kilometres north of the internationally recognized border with Georgia, is the venue for the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
