A Boeing 737-200 belonging to Merpati Nusantara Airlines (MNA) made an emergency landing today at Hang Nadim International Airport, Batam Island, Sumatra, on its way from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Surabaya, East Java. The diversion must be carried out because the plane was indicated of having a leakage in its lubricating oil pipe by Pilot Didik, Batam District Manager of MNA Supriadi Djufri, said at the Hang Nadim Airport. "The pilot decided to divert the landing to Batam because Hang Nadim airport has adequate facilities," Djufri said. The Merpati Nusantara Airlanes (MNA) planned to transfer all passengers to Adam Air plane to continue their flight to Surabaya, he added. MNA technicians have found the source of the trouble which has affected the Boeing's machine number one. Spare parts needed to fix the plane were expected to arrive from Surabaya later on the same day. The MNA management has reported the diversion of the Boeing landing to the Air Certificate and Worthiness Directorate (DSKU)'s personnel for the plane's release approval. In line with the existing procedures, every plane which has to return to base (RTB), return to apron or to make a landing diversion must be checked by DSKU. -- SPA
