A plane with 183 passengers on board was given priority landing with a full airport alert Friday after smoke was seen in a galley of the Boeing 737-800, according to German police. Nobody was hurt during the unscheduled touchdown in Stuttgart by the jet, which was flying from Amsterdam to Hurghada in Egypt. It taxied under its own power to the apron, and regular airport takeoffs and landings resumed after a 35-minute stoppage, DPA reported. Mechanics were examining the galley to discover what caused the fumes. An airport spokesman said the Dutch airline Arkefly was sending another jet to take the passengers to Egypt.
