The United Arab Emirates (UAE) President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, received Saturday evening a telephone call from Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the Palestinian National Authority. During the telephonic conversation, Sheikh Khalifa was briefed on the agreement signed between Fatah and Hamas movements in Makkah under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM." Sheikh Khalifa welcomed the accord as a step to strengthen Palestinian national unity and as a beginning of serious moves by Arab and International community to end the blockade imposed on the Palestinian people. Abbas thanked Sheikh Khalifa for his continuous support to the Palestinian people and for his efforts in enhancing the national unity among Palestinians in a way that will boost efforts to establish an independent state of Palestine with Al-Quds city as its capital.
