The Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States (PUIC) will ponder over the dilemmas faced by Muslims globally at its meeting here on Feb 15-16, Malaysian National News Agency "Bernama" reported today. The two-day Ninth Session of the Council of the PUIC is expected to take on two of the most pertinent issues for Muslims, the constant threats posed by Israel on the Arab world and restoring the sovereignty of Iraq. According to a statement from the organizers, Dewan Negara Speaker Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib, who is the president of the Ninth Council, would inaugurate the session at the Crown Plaza Mutiara here. PUIC's secretary-general Ibrahim Auf will be attending the meeting. A draft agenda provided by the organizers calls for the reconstruction of Iraq and the quick departure of foreign forces occupying the country. Muslim parliamentarians are also of the view that there should be a national reconciliation among all leadership factions in Iraq and an immediate ceasefire. The agenda also states, among others, the need for Muslims worldwide to find a lasting solution to the Palestinians' suffering. It also calls for Islamic nations to confront Islamophobia and the western campaigns against Islamic values. --MORE
