Prince Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi Ambassador to Washington delivered here the first lecture for the year 2007 during Kansas University's Landon annual lectures series which dates back to 1966. Prince Turki started his lecture entitled "The Art of Public Diplomacy" by speaking on challenges that are facing the global community including Terrorism, situations in Iraq and Palestine as well as other tense developments around the world. Commenting on Saudi-US relations, he said "Our nations are fortunate to have a long history of such cooperation. Our leaders have always worked closely. And we have long sought new ways of ensuring our continued partnership." He also mentioned the circumstances that brought King Abdul-Aziz and the former US president, Franklin Roosevelt together after Yalta conference at the end of the Second World War in 1945. He also said that the late King Abdul-Aziz (Bin Saud) was familiar with the United States' constitution, adding that the late King had chosen to deal with American oil companies taking into consideration that the United states "did not have a history of colonial exploitation." --MORE
