Seven people were killed and 17 injured after a bus plunged into a ravine in south-western Turkey on Saturday, news agency Anadolu reported, according to DPA. The long-distance coach was travelling through a mountainous region in the province of Isparta when it crashed into the 300-metre- deep chasm, the report said. Among the bodies recovered with some difficulty from the floor of the ravine was the driver. Officials, who noted lengthy skid marks at the point where the bus departed from the road, said inattention on the part of the driver may have been the cause of the accident. However officials also said it was possible that the 1,500-metre altitude road was frozen after early-morning sleet. The 17 injured, five of them seriously, were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
