Switzerland intends to invest $100 million to set up a maize-based ethanol plant near Port Qasim in Pakistan's Sindh province, says an official statement. The plant would be meant for export of ethanol to international destinations by ensuring adequate availability of fuel grade ethanol locally, besides exploring various other options for investment in the oil and gas sector in Pakistan. This was stated by Gilbert Brunner, Managing Director, Fair Energy, Switzerland, currently leading a delegation of Swiss investors, during a meeting with Pakistan Upper House Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro.
