President George W. Bush will meet with visiting U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in Washington next week, the White House announced on Friday. “There are many important issues on which the United Nations is deeply engaged, ranging from U.N. reform and protection and promotion of human rights to the preservation of international peace and security and the provision of humanitarian and development assistance,” the White House said in a statement. “The president looks forward to discussing these and other topics of mutual concern with Secretary-General Ban” at the January 16 meeting, the White House said.
