An American expert team will impart training to the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of Pakistan s North West Frontier Province police to effectively handle improvised explosive devices and post-bomb blasts situations, officials said. For this purpose a training camp will be arranged soon, a three-member delegation of the US Department of Justice and Criminal Division said in a meeting with the Inspector General of Police (IG), NWFP. The IGP briefed the members of the delegation about the training being given to the police force and the problems and difficulties confronted by the police in receiving latest training. The members of the delegation took keen interest in the training programme and assured the IGP of all possible help. They said that BDS would be imparted special training to handle improvised explosive devices and post-bomb blasts situations effectively. The delegation would also meet BDS police to understand their modus operandi about such incidents and to explore further areas of assistance.
