U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met on Thursday in the West Bank town of Jericho to discuss prospects for reviving Mideast peacemaking. Rice is in the region accompanying U.S. President George W. Bush, who is in Jordan for talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. She is to meet later in the day in Jerusalem with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, the Associated Press reported.
