The Regional Conference for Arab Cities resumed here this morning its meetings with the presence 14 delegations from Arab countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Today's session discussed working papers on the experiences of several Arab countries in the field of developing cities and improving their housing conditions. During the conference, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Institute for Developing Cities Abdullah Al-Naimi presented a working paper on housing projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the role of the public and private sectors in this field. He said that the Saudi government established a special fund to support and finance the housing projects in the Kingdom in order to boost its housing development, increase its residential areas and its construction activities. He added that the Kingdom entrusted the fund to take the task of distributing housing units that have been implemented by the Ministry of Housing where it distributed nearly 21,000 apartments in Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, Dammam, Ahsa, Qatif, Buraidah and Khobar. The conference began its deliberations yesterday in Amman.
