King Abdulaziz Public Library will hold on Tuesday at Marriott Hotel here, the first Unified Arabic Indexing Project meeting with the participation of Arab and international librarians. The Project will be initially launched on-line for web-surfing. Faisal bin Muammar, the General Supervisor of King Abdulaziz Public Library said the Bibliographical project is a gift from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve the Arab Culture and to organize the technical handling in libraries that store Arabic books. The project has received the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, who is also the Supreme President of King Abdulaziz Public Library. The meeting will highlight a number of facilities that the project offers such as bibliographical indexing, organizing of technical support and projecting the role of libraries in communities in addition to formulating future plans. In a statement, Muammar explained the goal of The Unified Arabic Indexing project and said it will help in storing the data base of intellectual Arabic Heritage in scripts, prints and microfilms in an integrated format.
