Overnight floods caused by heavy rains in Sri Lanka killed at least two people overnight, taking the death toll in the past three days to 13, a government relief official and a news report said Sunday. The floods have left 225,000 people homeless, Colombo's Sunday Times newspaper reported. Most of the deaths across the country were caused by drowning, while one person died in a landslide in Badulla, 230 kilometers (143 miles) east of the capital, Colombo, said D.K.P. Jayatilleke, a relief official at the National Disaster Management Center. Floodwaters cut off the main road to the country's only international airport, causing about 150 passengers to miss their flights Saturday night, the newspaper said.
