Berlin set to bid for 2020 Olympics

Berlin will bid to host the 2020 Olympic Games,
local politicians agreed Wednesday, according to dpa.
The ruling SPD and Left parties in Berlin agreed the move during
coalition talks following state elections in the city.
However, Berlin mayor Klaus Wowereit said the decision is
dependent on support from the German Olympic Sports Federation
(DOSB), which has yet to decide on the issue.
The Left party had previously been opposed to the idea. Berlin
made an unsuccessful attempt to win the right to host the 2000
Olympics but was beaten by Sydney. Hamburg is also believed to be
interested in hosting the Games.
