One person was killed and seven others were seriously injured after two boats collided near the Miami-Key Biscayne bridge, authorities said, according to AP. The crash happened near Rickenbacker Causeway shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday while one boat was towing a second boat with eight people aboard, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Dana Warr said. A third boat collided with the boat that was being towed, killing one passenger and injuring seven others, Warr said. Among the injured, four were in critical condition and three others were in serious condition when they were transported to area hospitals, Warr said. Hundreds of boaters were on the water this weekend during the annual Columbus Day regatta. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was investigating the crash.
