The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques chaired the cabinet's weekly session this Monday afternoon at alsalam palace in Jeddah. At the outset, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz briefed the council on the contents of communications and meetings he had over the previous days about issues in the region and the world at large, and on the intensive efforts the Kingdom is exerting to contain the ramifications of the Isaeli war on Lebanon, the support of all efforts seeking to unify the Palestinian national decision, and the confrontation of all attempts to fragmentize Iraq along ethnic and religious lines. In his statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, the Minister of Culture and Information, Iyad bin Ameen Madani said that the council of ministers emphasized in this regard that the Muslim World is facing internal and external challenges, a fact that requires of all effective Muslim leaders in politics, religion, culture, and economy to be first cognizant of powers and ideological trends that work to dismember the nation and to disseminate the seeds of doubts and discord in it, and second to consecrate all efforts toward unifying the stand, tolerant living among all religious orientations, and the promotion of the national unity. --MORE
