Libya has assured to import Pakistani professionals, highly skilled and semi-skilled workers to meet its local needs in various sectors, Pakistan's Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Ghulam Sarwar Khan said. The minister, currently on a visit to Libya, said the assurance was given by officials of the concerned ministries of Libya during his meeting with them, according to an official statement. Khan said he had held meetings with Matug Muhammad Matug, Minister for Manpower, Training and Employment, Dr. Ibrahim Zarrok Ashreef, Minister for Higher Education and Muhammad Al- Barani, Deputy Foreign Minister (In-charge Asia Desk). The minister said that his counterpart Matug Muhammad Matug indicated the areas like information technology, heavy mechanical Industry, education, construction, oil and Gas etc., where Libya can import manpower from Pakistan. He said that Pakistani manpower would be given preference while meeting the needs of manpower in various sector in Libya. Khan said that the Minister for Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Zarrok Ashreef had also shown interest to import IT professionals from Pakistan to train their local labour force. He said that the proposal of exchanging programmes in the field of engineering and medicine also came under discussion. He said that Dr. Ibrahim desired to utilize the experienced faculty from Pakistan in order to provide benefit to Libya's education sector, which consists of 13 universities and 24 colleges. During meeting with Muhammad Al-Barani, Deputy Foreign Minister (In charge Asia Desk) both sides expressed willingness to further strengthen their bilateral relations.
