NATO forces killed around nine suspected Taliban in a "precision strike" in the southern province of Helmand on Sunday, a statement said Monday. "A precision strike, targeting those directly involved with recent attacks in Now Zad, killed an estimated nine insurgents shortly before midnight last night," International Security Assistance Force ISAF said in a statement partially carried by dpa. The dead also included a prominent Taliban commander, Haji Zaheer, who was believed to have been involved in commanding and planning the rebels' activities in Naw Zad district, the statement said. Zaheer was also involved in managing "insurgent re-supply in the area", the statement said. "There were no reported civilian casualties."
