U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday as stronger-than-expected earnings from insurer AIG and a 3 percent drop in crude oil prices outweighed news about a suspected U.K. airplane bomb plot, Reuters reported. Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average rose 44.50 points, or 0.40 percent, to end unofficially at 11,120.68. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 5.30 points, or 0.42 percent, to finish unofficially at 1,271.25. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 11.43 points, or 0.55 percent, to close unofficially at 2,071.71.
