POLICE WERE HUNTING FOR A GANG OF THIEVES IN POLICE UNIFORMS WHO AMBUSHED AN ARMOURED CAR WEDNESDAY ON A LONELY ROAD IN THE SOUTHERN CZECH REPUBLIC, ACCORDING TO DPA. THE "FOUR OR FIVE" MEN WIELDED GUNS AND GOT AWAY WITH "TENS OF MILLIONS" OF KORUNA (TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS) DURING THE HOLDUP NEAR SLAKOV, SAID POLICE SPOKESWOMAN JANA SIPKOVA. THE ARMOURED CAR'S TWO-MAN TEAM WAS NOT HURT. THEY TOLD POLICE THE THIEVES FLED IN A SILVER MAZDA CAR AND A WHITE, FORD OFF-ROAD VEHICLE. A HELICOPTER AND POLICE ACROSS THE REGION WERE INVOLVED IN THE MANHUNT.
