U.S. stocks ended lower on Monday as investors worried that a spike of more than $2 in oil prices could fan inflation, slow growth and crimp corporate profits, a day before the Federal Reserve mulled a pause in its campaign of raising interest rates, Reuters reported. Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 20.97 points, or 0.19 percent, to end unofficially at 11,219.38. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 3.59 points, or 0.28 percent, to finish unofficially at 1,275.77. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 12.55 points, or 0.60 percent, to close unofficially at 2,072.50.
