AN INDONESIAN CHEMICAL TANKER SANK OFF TAIWAN'S
NORTH-WEST COAST SATURDAY AND THE SHIP'S EIGHT CREW MEMBERS WERE
RESCUED BY TAIWAN PATROL POLICE AFTER ABANDONING THE VESSEL,DPA REPORTED
THE TANKER, CARRYING ISOAMYL ACETATE BEGAN LISTING OFF THE TAIPEI
PORT SATURDAY MORNING AND SANK AT AROUND 1:25 PM, THE CENTRAL NEWS
AGENCY SAID.
A SMALL SPILL OF SIOAMYL ACETATE FOLLOWED THE SINKING, BUT WITHOUT
POLLUTING THE COAST. ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORITIES PLAN TO CLEAR UP THE
SPILLAGE ON SUNDAY, CNA ADDED.
