A U.S. SOLDIER WAS KILLED WHEN HIS VEHICLE STRUCK A ROADSIDE BOMB IN NORTHEAST BAGHDAD, THE MILITARY SAID SATURDAY. THE SOLDIER, WHOSE UNIT WAS NOT IDENTIFIED, DIED IN BAGHDAD'S SADR CITY, ACCORDING TO A STATEMENT. THE SOLDIER'S NAME AND UNIT WERE BEING HELD PENDING NOTIFICATION OF NEXT OF KIN. THE DEATH RAISED TO AT LEAST 2,547 MEMBERS OF THE U.S. MILITARY WHO HAVE DIED SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE IRAQ WAR IN MARCH 2003, ACCORDING TO AN ASSOCIATED PRESS COUNT.
